Croft Place
Architecture
Location: Mount Laurel, Alabama
The challenge: HKW was commissioned to design Croft Place, the second major commercial structure planned for Mount Laurel’s town center. In the design of the building, HKW reached back into history to develop an architectural vocabulary that is timeless and functional. Through the careful development of scale and the use of brick, stone and copper roofing, Croft Place continues to build on Mount Laurel’s unique ‘sense of place’ that is so often lacking in today’s commercial architecture. Mount Laurel is designed with the qualities of small-town life—homes with front porches, tree-lined streets, wide sidewalks and pedestrian-oriented town center with a mix of shops, offices, homes and civic buildings.
