As subconsultants to a construction manager at-risk joint venture, Gaston Engineering is providing construction management services for the 12-story, 740,000-square-foot expansion of Birmingham’s current Children’s Hospital. The facility will be the first new LEED Silver certified hospital in the state of Alabama. Project scope includes 280 new patient beds, 20 new operating rooms, new emergency room and labs, new central energy plant, green roof system, heliport, parking, as well as new administrative office space, a cafeteria and other common areas.
