Carson Filter Plant Expansion
Engineering
Construction Cost: $TBD million
The Birmingham Water Works Board’s plans for the Carson Filter Plant feature an expansion of the plant from 25.9 mgd to 35.9 mgd. The overall project scope includes a new chemical facility sized for 35.9 mgd, a new Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit, a new 35.9 mgd residuals handling facility and a new standby generator system. Gaston Engineering provided a conceptual layout for the expansion and is currently providing civil/site design, design of construction entrances and temporary access/circulation roadways, and design of grading/drainage, sewers, pump station and process piping for the expansion.
