A.G. Gaston Enterprises continues the legacy of namesake Dr. A.G. Gaston, visionary 20th century African-American entrepreneur and Birmingham business leader. Dr. Gaston opened the revolutionary first black-owned financial institution in Birmingham in the 1950’s. He went on to branch out into a variety of businesses including construction when he founded A.G. Gaston Construction in 1984.
Today, A.G. Gaston Enterprises represents the combined expertise of A.G. Gaston Construction, the former Saber Engineering and Keith Design. The partnership evolved from a long-standing joint marketing alliance between A.G. Gaston Construction and Saber Engineering, when principals Walter Howlett and Brian Hamilton recognized the potential of also offering architectural design services. With the addition in 2010 of principal Fred Keith of Keith Design, the new A.G. Gaston Enterprises has rapidly emerged as the leading design, engineering and construction firm in the state of Alabama, capable of providing clients comprehensive, integrated design-build services to support any project from inception to completion.
Principals Walter Howlett, Brian Hamilton and Fred Keith believe that the union will not only allow them to better serve the needs of their clients, but will also revive the historic and distinguished Gaston brand.
